A Prominent Scholar A Great Leader Dr. Sarfaraz Naimee

Mufti Mohmmad Naimee who was martyred yesterday in a suicide bomb blast incdent in his office was born in 1948 in Lahore, a son of Mufti Muhammad Husain Naeemi the founder of Jamia Naeemia he was the third child and second son among 10 siblings, Dr. Naeemi never showed any aim to secure advantages for himself and was frequently observed in riding his old motorbike.

A polite, patriot, fair and broadly respected scholar he never be concerned about protection. He recieved his early education from Jamia Naeemi and then done Doctrate in Islamic Studies from the Punjab University besides a short course of Arabic teaching course from Jamia Al-Azhar, Egypt.

An ex-khateeb (one who addressed, lead & perofrmed the Jumma prayer) of Chowk Dalgaran mosque, he was managing Jamia Naeemia besides an organisation looking after the affairs of Sunni sect seminaries.

Dr. Naeemi never openly joined politics. Although same like his father he had strong inclinations to Pakistan Muslim League-N and for this reason he had been opposed to former army dictator Pervez Musharraf. Nawaz Sharif had twice visited Jamia Naeemia, firstly when it started to introduce information technology for religious students and secondly after returning to Pakistan through NRO.

According PML(N) sources, Dr Naeemi, MNA Haji Fazl Karim and Ittefaq Mosque’s khateeb Syed Riaz Shah was working to build an alliance of religious scholars against the Taliban to cut their support from amongst the masses and in a recent famous religious television program of geo.tv Dr. Sarfaraz Naimee clearly stated that “the rules and practices as desribed and observed by the Taliban are not of Islam and it is not Jihad though by saying this I know that my life is in danger but I will say this because it is my Jihad towards Taliban”. Dr. Naimee left behind a son and five daughters.
