Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit stated in a radio programme that Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will visit Russia in coming week for talks to uphold two-sided affairs. It’s a late but good step raised by the PPP’s government as it is an old and successful strategy of Pakistan Peoples Party that always works good. Russia is a neighboring country of Pakistan and having good relations with China but Pak-Russian relations has been distracted after Afghan war in 80’s because of poor diplomatic policy of Late Zia Ul Haque the then Army Chief & President of Pakistan. Russia was considered as one of the super power countries till 1980 but after US interference in Afghan War, (USSR) Russian economy had been crushed badly that caused USSR to be divided in small states and afterwards loosed its grip at Afghan war.
By consecutive visits, talks, good diplomatic strategy and efforts of Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Pakistan built a strong relation with USSR or Russia and USSR had started numerous successful projects in Pakistan like Pakistan Steel Mill & Pakistan-Soviet oilfield to research oil resources in Pakistan. Pak-Soviet enjoyed good ties between 1973 to 1979 but after the sad demise of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto because of Pakistan’s CIA intrude & General Zia Ul Haque came into regime who dislike Soviet Union ideology that results break up of Pak-Soviet ties.
As per current international political situation PPP government once again raised a good step and the visit of Hina Rabbani Khar will play a good role in developing Pak-Russia (Российско-пакистанские отношения)ties once again. The triangle of Russia, China & Pakistan will create a sophisticated bond that will beneficial for the sub-continent.
